Course: ABC in Garden Design

Why do we need design?
For many of us gardening is almost a spiritual experience and an excellent activity in terms of relaxation.
The pleasure of growing plants offers to the grower unexpected reasons and can be a form of therapy.
A well-designed and built green space increases the property value and can significantly enhance personal comfort.
Achieving a great design for your green space by taking into consideration the soil health, maintaining and protecting the environment,  will reward you with many years of beauty, color, tranquility, privacy and relaxation in your natural personalized environment.

What is the course about?
ABC Garden Design provides you the necessary information about how to project the design in a constructive way, how to filter the amalgamation of ideas to design your own garden and to achieve any effect you want.
‘He who plants a garden, plants happiness’ says an old Chinese proverb.

The course initiates you in the garden design and how to think and plan your garden design. The information that you will receive is relevant both for small gardens, as well as for large gardens. Equally, you will be able to re-think and improve your current garden design.

Workshop 1: Garden art
We understand the mysteries of garden art, from ancient times, when people were trying to subdue and shape nature, and then evolved through the appreciation of the elements of the earth, water and vegetation reaching belief in their sacred character. Main styles: classic, landscape, composite, abstract.
Workshop 2: How to conceive a design?
We try to understand the general design principles of a design planning (compatibility, systematization of space, visual appearance, scale, consistent style, etc.), and the basics of building landscapes (perspectives, optical effects, fireworks design, etc.)
A look at everything that means introspective ambience: identifying the natural elements (potentially changeable) that creates a landscape and the artificial features built, functional and decorative.

Workshop 3: How to develop a landscape concept?

About the design of planted spaces: trees, hedges, shrubs, bushes, flowers, grass – landscape qualities considered in the choice of vegetation (wood, grass for details, decorative color, aromatic and medicinal plants, etc.) The role of shape in lawn design.  Spatial distribution of vegetation in landscape construction. The use of color in garden planning.

Workshop 4: demonstrations by viewing the sketches of shapes and types of gardens with specific areas, problems and possibilities for solving them (small gardens, large gardens and short, and long narrow gardens, gardens separated into different levels).

The design for the position problems: sloping gardens, sunny gardens, shady gardens, gardens with locations in the direction of the winds, for private gardens, gardens concreted, steep gardens) – key elements for solving.

After attending the course, the participants will know:

• the basic elements in garden design, harmony, balance, colors, proportions and lines

• how to evaluate the current landscape of the garden

• to be inspired and gather ideas about beautiful design, including when they should look professional help

• to outline a design plan

• to avoid common design mistakes
